This two-day workshop is customized for photographers with digital SLR cameras. Classroom sessions begin with digital photo basics and moves through creative oval racing photo techniques, track safety, professional conduct, editorial assignments, copyright and photo marketing. Trackside and pit road sessions will provide photo opportunities of live racing. Individual question-and-answer sessions are an integral part of the overall workshop. Workshop instructor David Allio began his professional motorsports photography career in 1974. He worked for 17 years as a special events photographer for the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, with assignments at over 100 different race tracks. His editorial images have graced the cover of nearly every major motorsports publication in the world. This year, students that successfully complete the two-day workshop may be allowed trackside to photograph Sunday's NHRA eliminations. The best photo of the weekend will win a ride-along prize package from the Richard Petty Driving Experience. Both Canon and Nikon continue to support the workshop. News sponsors Richard Petty Driving Experience, Las Vegas Trade Show Guide, Think Tank Photo, SummitRacing.com and dragracecentral.com, join returning sponsors Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Goodyear, Roberts Photo of Indianapolis, Berrie Smith Professional Camera Repair, and ChasinRacin.com. A unique opportunity to spend a week learning the Platinum/Palladium Printing Process with one of todays' foremost Palladium Printers, David Michael Kennedy. This workshop is limited to one student at a time who will live and work at David's barn/studio in rural upstate New York. Each day will be spent working with David in his darkroom, where you will make your own enlarged negatives and print your own work. This is a hands-on intensive workshop, designed so that you leave with a good working knowledge of the process and a foundation that will allow you to return home and continue to work within the process.
You must have negatives to work with before you come to New Mexico. David works with enlarged negatives so your original negatives can be any format and you will learn how to make dupe negatives for final contact printing.

SPAO was created to deliver intensive photographic training. The full-time curriculum is portfolio driven and designed with the committed student of photography in mind. The part-time studies offered are geared to many levels of experience, but still share an intensity of concentration, and emphasis on craft and execution, with the full-time program.
The SPAO facility, located in Ottawa's Byward Market, is a unique and yet comfortable space. Laid out in the traditional "New York School" studio style, students have access seven days a week to the equipment, computers, resources and information required to hone their skills and produce high-end work.
